Job description
The Psychosocial (PSS) worker works as a primary mental health caregiver within the Première Urgence Internationale mobile healthcare program, according to identified needs and activity plan. The PSS worker is focused on provision of psychosocial services to identified beneficiaries.
Main tasks:
Ensure and conduct primary health care services and pss activities
- Participate in mental health status evaluation and assessment
- Contribute to case management plan led by team psychologists
- Plan and implement psychosocial group support and Ensure the organization of PSS activities
- Actively participate to the good cohesion of the Mobile Mental Health team (MMHT), coordinating the actions of the team on site and Contribute to a patient record system
- Conduct social/recreational activities and group sessions
- Ensure that all patients and their relatives are treated equally with respect of ethical and confidential issues
- Participate to the mainstreaming of protection throughout all activities
Set up management of an efficient referral system
- Participate in assessment of the referral mental health facilities and realization a mapping of the structures, with the team psychologists overseen by the Deputy of Project Manager
- Support management of the emergency and electives referral cases according to the referral protocol by ensuring all the logistics organization, appointment with specialists, coordinate with the Focal Point, etc.
- Coordinate with the team psychologists to provide all the necessary information to the patient for accessing the referral PHCC/secondary care center
- Support follow up of the referred cases under leadership of the team psychologists, with the patient and the reference doctor, ensuring appropriate follow up care has been given and taking appropriate action if further care is needed
Mhpss data collection and reporting
- Record accurately and in a readable manner, the MHPSS case management on the confidential patient records
- Guarantee accurate daily use and tracking of epidemiological data
- Collect general information about the patients’ living conditions
- Contribute to the weekly MHPSS statistic reports prepared by the team psychologists
Meetings/coordination
- Debrief daily with the MMHT team members
- Debrief on a weekly basis with the mobile health team members, especially with Health and Hygiene promoters
- Provide information to the Deputy of Project Manager about health status trends, gaps and needs in the communities treated (e.g. psychological support, the prevalence of water-borne diseases, etc.).
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Mandatory:
- At minimum BA degree in field of social work, psychology, or related field
- 2 + years clinical practice in primary mental health care
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Understanding of the KR-I medical system
- English : good
- Kurdish (badini) & Arabic : Very good
- Pack Office: very good
Optional:
- Training in community or public health
- Experience in community or public health
- Experience in a mobile clinic setting
- Experience with an NGO
- Experience with PUI
- Ability to work in unstable circumstances
- IT skills, particularly data analysis and presentation (Excel)
