Job description
- Stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the protection environment in the camp.
- Coordinate the design, implementation and evaluation of protection-related programming with partners.
- Supervise, organize and monitor daily protection activities in the camp.
- Performing and organizing daily protection assessments in the camp with an objective to ensure needs, and vulnerabilities of POCs are identified and addressed.
- Preparing and sharing daily and weekly protection report to camp manager and UNHCR protection team.
- Providing regular training sessions to camp management staff on protection topics and liaising with all protection actors in the camp.
- Participate actively in setting up and update of feedback and complaints mechanisms in camps.
- Supervising community mobilizers in establishing mechanisms of identification of people with vulnerabilities and special needs. Coordinating with protection actors to establish referral pathways in camps and ensure that persons with specific needs have access to adequate services.
- Supporting protection monitoring and regular safety audits in camps.
- Training camp authorities, agencies, community leaders and committees on general protection principles and Sphere standards on protection.
- Overseeing community services programs in camps.
- Prepare monthly updates and reports on protection issues in camps.
- Ensure information dissemination is provided in a timely and understandable manner by community mobilizers in camps to all stakeholders (IDPs, NGOs, Government)
- Support the development of toolkits and guidelines for community mobilization and how to conductmass information campaigns.
- Supervise and coordinate organization of message delivering and awareness campaigns in camps.
- Report on how information dissemination is conducted at camp level.
- Support the establishment / strengthening of camp committees and elections in camps.
- Collect information on camp committees list and camp committees meetings and activities.
- Support the development of toolkits, standard operating procedures and guidelines for community mobilization and participatory programs including providing trainings on how to establish committees, how to run focus group discussions etc.
- Assisting the camp management in facilitating coordination/ meetings/sectorial task forces and field visits.
- Working with camp management team, specifically with Protection & Community Mobilizers, in identify gaps – assess, verify, and map emerging assistance needs.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- Excellent knowledge of English and good working knowledge of another UN language.
- University degree in Law, International Law, political Sciences or related fields.
- Three years experience with NGOs in similar filed.
