MEAL Assistant

Job description

To support the delivery of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL) standards and best practice and lessons learned by helping design programme monitoring systems, building the capacity of staff in data collection, managing a complaints database and coordinating information management and reporting systems.  

  • To work in coordination with the MEAL team in the Mosul Response Team and  Country Office to ensure quality data collection and effective and efficient use of information to support decision making, accountability and continual programs’ improvement;
  • To support relevant program staff in monitoring and evaluating the activities implemented in the respective locations, ensuring that children and adults’ opinions are actively sought, quality of programs assessed against minimum standards and findings shared with relevant stakeholders and explicitly fed back into programme decision making;
  • To receive, register and analyze complaints in the locations, providing responses and possible solutions to identified problems and needs, making sure that urgent and sensitive complaints are reported according to Child Safeguarding Procedures;
  • Ensure that feedback boxes are regularly checked on a weekly basis;
  • Conduct periodic focus group discussions to solicit opinions and feedback on programs by relevant stakeholders;
  • To respond and communicate with children, adults and community members  in a dignified manner regarding their complaints/feedback;
  • To provide support in ensuring that all SC interventions have accountability mechanisms in place;
  • To carry out regular field visits to implement MEAL tasks;
  • To handle complaints as per MEAL guidelines and share information with relative staff member;
  • To assist MEAL team in drafting monitoring reports, assessments and studies;
  • To potentially deliver relevant trainings to field based staff;

  • Ability to work long and flexible hours in difficult and insecure environments
  • Hardworking, proactive and positive attitude within a team
  • Fluency in Arabic
  • Cultural sensitivity and tact
  • Graduate degree
  • Demonstrated 6 months of overall experience; and a minimum of 1 year of specific development sector experience
  • Good computer knowledge
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
