Description

The main objective of health assistant is to ensure the good running of the mobile clinic site, including initial patient registration, organisational set up of the Mobile Health Team, ensuring provision of required non-medical items and stationery, communication with the beneficiaries and assisting the nurses with patients when required. At the meantime, he promotes good hygiene and health practices among the local population, making households visits as required.

Specific responsibilities

PATIENT CARE

  • Ensure a good level of communication and understanding between the medical team and the beneficiaries- ensure understanding of the functioning of the MHT, making sure that patients know where to go and what to expect
  • Follow the waste management according to the waste management procedures
  • Participate in the initial needs assessment at target communities’ level: facilitation of focus group discussions, visits to sites, and meeting with key members of community.
  • Conduct household visits within the target area to identify special cases and transmit health messages
  • Participate in actions for the communities in link with the rest of the team, suggesting improvements for the awareness activities

DATA COLLECTION AND REPORTING

  • Record accurately for each area, on a timely manner, the patient registration data
  • Collect the general information about the refugees/IDP’s living conditions
  • Participate in collaboration with the medical team to prepare daily activity report

MEETINGS AND INFORMATION SESSIONS WITH THE COMMUNITY

  • Conduct health sensitisation sessions alongside the Mobile Health Teams on topics decided on a basis of identified health concerns and/or needs of targeted community
  • Participate regularly to training sessions or information sessions in order to maintain an updated knowledge and to improve it

ORGANISATION

  • Ensure appropriate set up and organisation of the medical team and the site
  • Ensure doctors and nurses have sufficient non-medical equipment and drugs to conduct consultations
  • Clean non-medical material for site set-up of MHT and manage the collection & evacuation of the infectious trash

Qualifications

– College education

– Experience in community or public health

– Excellent communication and analytical skills

– Excellent organizational skills

– Understanding of the KR-I medical system,

– Ability to work in unstable circumstances

– Ability to solve problems, find practical solutions, and to adapt.

– Languages : Kurdish , Arabic : very good

Optional

– Training in Project Cycle management

– Training in community or public health

– Medical assistant/ nursing diploma

– Experience in mobile clinic setting

– Experience with an NGO

– Experience with Première Urgence Internationale

– English language : good

– Pack Office
