Job description
The Finance Assistant is responsible for assisting with full and complete accounting for expenditure in the Erbil Logistics Centre and to assist head office Finance Officer in the day to day management of the finance in the log centre.
- Assist with all documentation for payment requests are complete, accurate and duly approved in compliance to all the programs SOP’s
- Administer cash disbursements for Sub sector and ensure regular cash counts are completed and balanced to the Cashbooks
- Provide support with to enter transaction into the Cashbooks in a timely manner, correctly validated/balanced and sent to line manager on the first working day of the following month
- Ensure accuracy and timely submission of Sub sector monthly Cashbooks sent to line manager for consolidation
- Ensure that all Log Centre Cashbooks are thoroughly checked, all expenditure duly coded to the relevant natural, cost centre, project & account codes and supported by an active Grant before passing them on to the line manager
- Ensure all payroll data is accurately recorded on the Payroll templated and balanced to the Payroll monthly totals
- Ensure that all supporting documents are filed in a logical manner for easy retrieval and acces
- Ensure that all Finance documents are properly archived in accordance with Finance Department policy
- Assist the line manager in the preparation of financial report both internal and external
- Conduct any other task required by the line manager
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- An ondertanding of NGOs and a commitment to humanitarian work
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field
- Fluency in English and Kurdish written and spoken
- Advanced numeracy and accounting skills
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word and computerized spreadsheets
