Job description
- Check bills and invoices before payment to ensure documents are accurately completed and approved with clear and specific charging notes; and ensure whether or not the policies, procedures and guidelines including specific grant/donor requirements are followed.
- Check Payment vouchers- PVA, checks for payment; prepare CR and General Journal vouchers – GJ on daily basis.
- Provide cash advances to program and admin staff and working to settle procurement, training and travel expenses. Ensure proper budget coding approvals from the authorized person and deliver the checks to concerned parties on timely basis.
- Monitor the financial information including bank balance, trial balances and cash at the end of each month.
- Handle all authorized petty cash payments.
- Supervise daily cash count to ensure the cash balance is accurate and provide daily report to Finance Officer.
- Act as focal point between SCI and local banks.
- Checking expenditure reports of local partners in collaboration with Budget Holders.
- Contribute to month-end processes and ensure that all balances are known and accounted for.
- Maintain and organize finance documents in an orderly and secure manner.
- Scan all payment vouchers and upload onto online shared drive.
- Orient new staff on finance policies and procedures on a regular basis.
- Extract Budget versus Actual reports and/or transaction lists on a weekly basis and respond to queries by project staff.
- Any other related tasks as requested by Supervisor.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- University Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting, Commerce or Finance, or full qualification in a recognized Accounting professional body.
- Minimum of one year of accounting experience preferably in an international NGO.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.
- Fluency in Kurdish, Arabic and English.
- Computer skills and previous experience with accounting software.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Additional qualities: ability to multitask, ability to handle pressure well, ability to improvise, flexibility, cultural and environmental sensitivity.
- Teamwork skills.
