Education Officer

Job description

The Education Officer will support the implementation of the project “PRO-EDU: Child Protection and Education in Emergency Integrated Intervention in Support of Children Affected by the Conflict in Iraq”. She/he will be responsible of supervising part of the project activities, mainly related to assessment design and implementation and capacity building, providing strategic advice, technical and monitoring support.

  • With support from the Project Manager and the Education Coordinator, develop, implement and monitor capacity building activities (trainings) addressed to teachers and PTA members;
  • Design and implement assessment sessions (including FGDs) to determine perceived needs, and to monitor activities’ impact;
  • Contribute in defining activities’ work plan and in ensuring that all planned activities are implemented on time;
  • Provide technical guidance and advice on Education in Emergency topics (including but not limited to: inclusive education, pedagogy, classroom management and PSS);
  • Maintain regular and positive professional relations with sector local authorities, stakeholders and beneficiaries;
  • Contribute in designing and implementing monitoring tools and feedback mechanisms;
  • Work with communities and disseminate information about education issues and available services;
  • Provide regularly relevant report to the Project Manager, providing updates on the activities and highlighting challenges and solutions;
  • Keep proper record of project documentation;
  • Ensure that education activities are implemented in ways that are responsive to communities and children, and in line with INTERSOS’ principles, values and strategic plan;
  • Perform any other task assigned by the Project Manager and/or Project Coordinator to support and improve the project/mission.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • University degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in the education sector, preferably with local or international NGOs
  • Strong understanding of the Mosul crisis impact on the population of Ninewa in the field of education
  • Previous experience in trainings’ design and delivery
  • Proven technical knowledge and skills in the fields of education, child participation, caregivers’ capacity building
  • Will to conduct frequent and regular visits in the project locations to ensure the implementation of activities
  • Strong organizational, reporting, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
  • Good writing skills and computer literacy
  • Very good knowledge of Arabic and English (spoken and written) is mandatory
